The biopic of Johnny Cash has been made, trailer available to watch Whackin Phoenix as The Man in Black.

This is a man that was roundly ignored by the music industry until Rick Rubin picked him up and had the faith and believe to promote the hell out of him on Def Jam and, in the twilight of his years, Cash finally found the acclaim he was owed after almost 50yrs of bashing his heart against the wall.
But as soon as he died, you can suddenly get all his albums for full price whereas before I had to order them if I couldn't get into London.
And as soon as he died, Hollywood decided he was cool enough to warrant a film about him. With big Hollywood stars and millions of dollars spent on it.
This is a guy that refused to obey labels, refused to star in movies, refused to record what he was told would sell, refused to dance like a trick pony to increase his popularity.
Listen to the intro on track 4 as Cash willingly refuses to play along with the BBC who are broadcasting his concert, blowing a lot of $ and ruining his chances of being promoted over here http://www1.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=93;-1;-1;-1&sku=652850
That was Cash.
The guy who lost to Justin Timberlake for best video to eMpTyV, who promptly devoted a fawning hour to Cash when he died.
For a video that still makes me cry to this day http://www.markromanek.com/video/14.html
So yeah, Hollywood says Cash is cool now he's dead.
Pffffft
"I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times."

"one piece at a time" is genius.
you're spot on though goatboy, this is purely about making money (noone say "cashing in") and leaping upon a bandwagon that they steadily ignored for many years.
"find your soulmate, Homer"
edit: just watched the trailer, that pheonix bloke sounds nothing like him.

Heh, I almost did backflips around the room when I realised they were making that episode
Ah well, anybody with a p2p programme can get it, and in the spirit of Cash I recommend grabbing it instead of offering money for music
Not sure about old Wacky Phoenix, though.
The studios refused to finance the project saying that nobody would be interested in a 2hr film about a country singer etc and certainly not one who drank/took drugs/was violent.
But Cash dies, every musician with soul praises him, his albums shoot back up the charts and voila - movie.
But hey, I liked The Village. I clearly know nothing.
