Stupid closed source piece of Micro$oft...ahem...
Sorry, bit carried away there =/
ive had kernal problems in windows explorer and ive been told you can fix it if you know how but it costs money to learn SO if you have config safe you can down load it
the program takes a snapshot of your computer then if you have problems then you go back to that snapshot and the program takes you back in time
great hey
i got this program from the maker ,jan olsen and it is great
www.configsafe.com
in dos type format c:
then you'll need the windows boot disk which will give you instructions, just follow them with your windows cd and driver discs.
Just Reinstalling windows may fix the problem, just put the windows cd in the drive open d: then double click on setup and follow the on screen instructions.
You can do it manually through DOS, format c:, but some people aren't comfortable with using it. Also make sure that you back up any important files and programs you don't have installation discs for, because you will lose -everything-
Apart from that...you could reflash your bios once it's done, updating it with a new one or reusing your original, to reset all the settings on your motherboard (clock, pci slots, cpu multiplier etc). Bios flashing is supported by most new motherboards, but make sure you get it right, or you wont even be able to boot your pc.
