Firstly, as you can see, the screen has changed, and no, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that but here is my analysis into why Nintendo have done this.
First of all, it took a pretty good magnifying glass to watch Mario or Spiderman running across your screen with the GBC. That is no longer the case as the 2.9" TFT Reflective Screen of the GBA has much crisper graphics and allows for better resolution! Wahey!
Also, with 768 more colous, added to the 32,000 of the GBC, the GBA can produce up to 286.16% more colours during gameplay! "How?" You might ask, well... it might have something to do with 32-Bit ARM CPU, which is at least 4 times faster than the GBC allowing for the screen to be updated quicker! And who knows! The ARM CPU (Used for the GBA) might be a shade or two faster that the Z80 (Used for the GBC).
The next thing I noticed was the weight... The Gameboy Advance is a whole 2 grams lighter that the GBC, however. You may feel that this is unnoticeable but I assure you, t'was but a straw that broke the camels back and it could be 2 grams that breaks your wrist, so be thankful!
But the weight comparison doesn't end there, as the new Carts used with the GBA are roughly half the size of those used with the GBC. Thus making your GBA another 2 grams lighter! (You'll be grategul one day!) Also, in this Technology Age we're in, compact stuff is 'hip' right? The smaller the better, (My girlfriend says she doesn't agree!?)
Anyway moving on. As you know by now, the GBA is capable of producing 3D like effects, as shown in these screen shots!

As you can see, SNES like graphics for the new age, well, I'm impressed!
Battery Life is another important factor, many people were quite 'miffed' at the 10 hours og gameplay you got with the GBC so, in their wisdom, as any other comapny would, Nintendo have decided that they should meka, I mean uh... make, the batteries last longer. And so they have, you now get an whopping extra whopping 50% battery life with your Duracell than you ever did before!
But this is where the bad news comes in... Unfortunatley as you'll have noticed from the description in the first paragraph, the GBA screen is STILL not back-lit so you will need a seperate light source to be able to play your games... sunlight should do it, but if you're travelling in the car late at night and daddy doesn't want the in-car lights on, i'm afraid it's a Worm-light for you... look for it in the next SR Mag or On-line! But the news isn't all bad, with the backlit screen we would only have got a mere 2 hours of play for our £1.99 AA batteries, so, in this case, I'm glad we have a reflective screen!
And alas, the ultra bonus, only ever provided before by Sony Corps Playstation 2, the Gameboy Advance can play all of the Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket and Gameboy Colour games... yes the cartridges stick out a mile but hey, at least the non-GBC owners amongst you don't have to fork out £50 to play the old GBC 'classics'! (If there are any!)
All in all, I am very impressed with the GBA and as shown in the two links above, the graphics of the Gameboy, have now been greatly improved and with games like Spyro, Tony Hawks and Nintendo classics like Mario Kart and the man himself, you can be sure that the gameplay, as ever, will be there!
Thanks for Reading, and I hope, for those of you who didn't know, this has helped!
(Oh and by the way, some of this stuff might be wrong, I have tried my best to collect and gather different types of accurate info from different sites to knock this baby up in about 30 mins. So if you have an alternative opinion or you know of any changes made, or even if you have personal experiences through having a GBA of your own, please, let's here them! And if any of the stuff is wrong, just say!!!)
Thanks Again...
Game
