ok, put up your hand if you've ever bought or owned a copied game (or a 'back-up copy'). let me see, thats about everyone. Everyone, well almost, has had copied games. so what am i ranting on about?? Gaming companies moan when they loose out on millions of pounds when their games are just released, but you can already get them copied. Which would you prefer? £30-40 in the shops? £5-10 copied? so what are they doing about it? nothing. they are trying to crack down on the people making the copies, when they should be targetting the consumers. If the gaming industries made us offers that we just couldnt refuse, there wouldnt be as many pirate games. But, they wont do this because they would loose out on profits. I know that games take thousands of pounds to develop, test, market ... but after the initial loss of money, the sales would be sky high. How many people would buy a ps2 if the console cost £150? EVERYONE would. but, thats just halved sonys' profits? so what, i bet you twice as many people would buy them. If new games cost £10-20 how many people would still buy pirate games? hardly anyone would. I asked firends and other people in chat rooms and forums and most of them agreed with me. Its time to show the gaming industry whos in charge. Their future is in our hands.

Yea but like dave619 said, if it was half the price, then double the people will buy them. But is it really illegal for a company to make copies of theyre own games?

hmm... one thing u missed out on- Sony make a LOSS on the PS2... it costs more than £300 to make.

Anyway, I can't be bothered to write any more right now... got too much work to do!

I'm sorry, but this sounds silly. Some games cost a lot of money to make, so games developers would not make money from selling copied versions. For example, Shenmue, cost tonnes of money to make, I can't remember how much exactly but it is in the £millions region. If they did make profit, it would take a hell of a long time, and the only people who people who will buy it are the likers of the genre, and of course Sega Dreamcast owners, which sort cut's down the amount of people who can but it.

Let's not forget, if developers sold copied versions of the games, it could damage their reputation. If all developers did it, then the gaming world would be turned upside down.

Yes, it would be good if all games prices could be down to a price that everybody can afford, but the developers do have to cover their costs, and if everybody started buying the copied verions, developers and publishers also, would lose money, which could lead to the developers or publishers folding, and then games would stop being produced, and then we'ed be bored.

the game makers wont sell pirate copies, its illegal, plus the shops would still put their mark-up on the games and they would be just as expensive.
