Rite im interested in buying a maxx px from special reserve and im looking at the 1700mhz top quality one...im just unsure about some things though so if you can help me it would be much appreciated..

well i have had a look at the pc and it gives you a list of customised parts that can be fitted...

one is 256mb of ram i think well is this applicable even if the pc has alreadly got 256mb of ram... it thought it would be impossible to upgrade the ram further to 512mb of ram which is insane!!!

i have limited knowledge of the pc hardware system so any helpful comments would be greatly thanked

neo..cheers

and yes i am after getting a stonking top quality pc thats why i came to Maxx Pc !!

It can be cheaper, because

500 quid. That is cheap, and as you said, you wouldn't be paying for the rubbish you dont want or need. Maybe ill have to give this a whirl!

Is it cheaper to build it yourself, or best to get it pre-made? If you buy all the parts seperatly you will end up paying more on TAX than you would on a ready made version.

I ordered my MAXX 1.7GHz last Friday... just waiting for it to arrive.

Check the RAM prices though - SR have 128Mb RDRAM RIMM's for around £150, but a 256Mb RDRAM is £449. Obviously it will be £150 cheaper for you to get 2x 128Mb.

You can get another 256mb on top of the standard 256, yes - I'm not sure if MicroSoft fixed it for WinME, but there were problems with the Win9x series recognising large amounts of ram...

Anyway, you can never have too much ram, I have 768mb in this machine at the moment, but I'll be taking some of that out to put it my mew one when I start building it.
