Theirry Henry!

Not a suprise tbh, but I dont think he suits being a Captain. As a captain you need to be able to boss the defence, midfield and forwards, however standing all the way up there means Arsenal will have less of a leader for the defenders.

And will Henry being Captain affect his scoring record? Will he concetrate more on Captaining and score less goals?

Worry! Worry!

Even Owen captains his team well in England games. He doesn't lead via example but he is a fantastic team player... outside of madrid.

Shearer, Raul, Cantona - Strikers make great captains.

Henry, however, will leave Arsenal in the next year. So no worries, that spot is open for loyal-Cole.

I'd have picked Sol Campbell myself. But I have never doubted Henry and if Wenger thinks he should be captain then I will see what Henry is like. And if the team is down and the captain scores a goal for you no doubt that will give the team a huge boost. And Henry doesn't just play for himself...and a few assists? Do you even know how many assists he got last season?

I do see where you're coming from, and had Sol Campbell been around a bit more last season then he may have got the job, but as things are, Henry isn't a bad choice.

No, but Henry does his own thing when on the pitch. He just isn't a very good person to choose as captain.

imo, his only job is to score as many goals as possible and assist a few.

?

What, so all captains should be midfielders so they have good access to all other players on the team? Chelsea did alright with John Terry as captain standing at the back and Newcastle have performed well (excluding last season) with Alan Shearer leading from the front. Oh, and the German team reached the World Cup finals with their goalkeeper as captain.

However, having said all that, I don't think that Henry would have been my first choice but I can't say how well they do interact in the changing rooms, perhaps Henry is a lot more effective backstage.Henry performs well so he can lead by example, and he's been there a fair number of years now, he's earnt his opportunity I suppose.
