Abandonware is software, mostly games, that are either no longer held in copyright or the propety of any software house any longer. It mainly comprises of older titles dating back to the days of the Spectrum, C64 and even the Atari ST and Amiga. But there are also some older console classics and PC titles on many sites. I have recently managed to download titles like GOLDEN AXE, INTO THE EAGLES NEST, THE CHAOS ENGINE, GAUNTLET, URIDIUM and LASER SQUAD - All of which older games players may all remember.
These titles are freely available, all it costs is the time on your phoneline while it downloads!. Anyone who is interested should look up www.classic-trash.com as a starter and see what else is to offer. I think this is a great way of getting these now deleted games, and it might be a bit retro but some of these games have more playability than some of the newest titles around!

What do the rest of you think, and also if any Special Reserve staff are reading this, do they think think it undermines the normal games retail market in any way?

Try running memory hungry programs to slow down your pc, so if your playing a legit or abandonware copy of theme park say, run loads of movies and programs in the back ground to slow the game down. also the memory problems, have you tried running them in dos? You can change the memory settings so the games work, but i wouldnt advise this if you dont know what your doing, and if you dont know how to do it, then dont find out as you'll nacker your pc more than likly.

hi, i've tried abandonware and its pretty neat. The only problem is running some of them on my AMD 450 with WinME. Some of the games dont work, they come up with conventional memory errors and some of the games which do work run too fast. Do you know of any way to solve this problem?

Also sound settings can be a problem.
