I take it your current graphics card is AGP?

Abit AV8 VIA K8T800 Pro (Socket 939) Motherboard £70.44
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail £187.94

£258.38

Are there any motherboards that allow you to have two or more processors?

Difference isn't that big, in my opinion.

Currently running a P4 3.2 Ghz with the venerable Abit IC7-G motherboard.

About £200 now, probably less, but worth it...

Not really a big Intel man, so don't chew me up...

I have 1gb of DDR RAM just ive run out of slots for more. I was looking at AMD processors which aren't compatable with my current motherboard but I heard that they are better than Pentium.

If you're buying a new motherboard your best bet is to go for a PCI express motherboard, which in this case you will probably need a new graphics card.

Depending on how old the PC is you intend to upgrade, you may also need to buy some new RAM. If you currently use SD you will therefore need to buy some DDR.

So in the end, it could be very pricey.
