Looking into XBox Live in a bit more detail, and on the officail website I found this:

"You will need to purchase an Xbox Live compatible router which will enable you to connect your PC and Xbox to your broadband line."

That's fine, and there is one availlable for BT Broadband, but at £80!!!! That's ridiculous! Do most PCs have one of these installed as standard? Because if that's the case then I'll check my one, but I'm not up for handing over £80.

Please help! (Before you suggest it I've read Biggles FAQ.)

I'd use a free trial first if I were you, just in case you have problems setting it up

I will look into it, thanks again Bullett!

Whoo! It's a PCI modem! Great! Now I just need a long cable to go from my dad's office to my room and I'm sorted.

Although I should really pick up the Starter Kit :-D

Oh, internal modem? That's little tricky for me - I only have a bit of ICS experience with USB modems.

Anyhoo, you can get routers for far less than £80. Try eBuyer.co.uk.

I'm sure a standalone router can be grabbed for around £20-30.

I can honestly say I have no idea.

Can I get a crossover anywhere? Or do they do them here on SR?

I just asked dad, and he's got an internal modem anyway. Bah, not convinced it's PCI.

No, just a crossover cable from the Xbox to the Host PC.

Or is it a straight cable?? Damn, you'll need someone else to confirm that unless you already know.

Cheers Bullett, I have to do that to get on this PC anyway (I have a wireless to my dad's PC).

Do I need any special kit for ICS?

Just connect via ICS, saves buying a router, but you need your PC switched on whenever you want to play on Xbox Live.
