What the hell? He left Inter because he wanted first team action to give him a better chance of playing in the World Cup. So he joins not only a rival club, but a bigger club who is less likely to use him. Does he really think at 32/33 (can't remember exactly) that he'll get a first team place over Shevchenko, Crespo and Inzaghi? And if they get Gilardino he has no chance.

You seem to have forgotten Pompey's inability to function in the transfer market.

Our chairman, cheif exec, director of football and facilities are all pretty pish poor, which is a bit of a disadvantage

Roberto Baggio

Anyway, it wasn't that he signed for a rival club that surprised me, it was that he signed for a bigger club. It seemed implied that he would go to a smaller club to see first team action. I suppose AC knew they'd lose Crespo. But still, if Gilardino signs Vieri will have to leave in January or something.

I don't think the derbies will be that heated...

Think of the players that have played for both already:
Pirlo
Seedorf
Crespo
Helveg

Probably others, just can't think at the moment

He had trouble with the Inter fans even while he was still scoring goals for them - I just wonder how long it'll be now before we have the first case of player assasination at the San Siro!

He's not got much competition for that 2nd international spot alongside Viduka, really. What, he's not Australian? Get out!

Hohoho.
