I think the moral of the story is, no matter how much cocaine you take, it doesn't give you talent.

Some of Doherty's solo stuff is pretty good. Ya know. When he was "kiting".

The reason Pete Doherty's album sales went down is because people realised what a complete and utter untalented knob he is, while they simultaneously realised how genius Floyd are.

This argument can't fail.

But Coldplay are Coldplay.

I need not explain myself as to why this would mean their sales would go up.

Echoes was released in 2001 and it went up by 1,343%.
Up The Bracket was 2002 and it went down by 35%.

There's that argument out the window, I'm afraid.

But what we're all forgetting is that the FTSE was up three points yesterday whereas the NASDAQ was down five.
So really

The point is more people will already have it and that Coldplay will still be riding their new release buying craze.

But it went down 35% compared to the previous week's sales, not comapred to 2002's sales
