"Media file don't open properly. Help please."

For ages now, media files don't open with double-click, I have to right-click and go to 'open with'.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have Windows XP SP2

No luck with that.
What the hell is it? It must just be windows media player. I'll re-install it sometime.

Strange.

Have to looked at your files associations ?

Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types tab
Find the file type you're interested in and change as required...

Thanks for that. I had tried that before though, it just doesn't stay selected.
It works if I use another program though - must just be Windows Media Player - damn thing

Easiest way to correct this is to:

Open With > Choose Program... > Single Click the required program and check the box "Always use the selected program..." before clicking Ok.
