My mum has just splashed out some cash on a shiny new laptop with built-in wireless - can anyone recommend me a decent wireless modem/router to go with it, please? Doesn't need to be anything special, although a bundled PCMCIA card would be nice (to add her old laptop to the network) and preferably below £100.

You will have to check whether it's wireless G (54mb) or B (11mb) card as it effects the speed. I don't have one personally but have been advised whatever you do don't get Linksys one as they are crap but heard reports that Netgear and 3Com are okay and do the job....

Netgear are good, but they're too costly. Most of my Kit is Netgear, but that's only because I had some sort of stupid 'loyalty' thing to them because they were so reliable. I'm not saying thwy're bad now, but I recently discovered just how good Belkin were - and they are half the price of Netgear.
You shouldn't have any problems with the original stuff I recommended - you'll just need to connect the modem directly to set it up, then you can use the USB wireless connection.
