Sometimes it's the worst game ever - when you've just lost your top of the range beauty that you've spent thousands doing up.
The racing isn't always close, but that fact that you have some much riding on most of the races - not just money, but reputation and, sometimes, your own car - means that you often put more pressure on yourself than your competitors do.
I have actually been nervous as a race is about to start. Knowing that if I lose I'm out of cash and will have to sell a car, but if I win, I'm 50,000 better off.
The fact that you can bet on races that you don't even participate in, the respect system and the whole pink slip race takes this game one level up on anything I've played before.
I know that it hasn't got great reviews from some places, and the demo didn't really do the game justice as you really become attached to your cars as you progress through the game, that if you lose one you are genuinely gutted. This is helped by the other characters. You see a talking head of the opposition through the game, and this draws you into the game a suprising amount.
If you're a fan of racing games, I'd give this a go. I was a bit unsure when I bought it, but I haven't touced a single game since I've had it, inclduing GTA:SA, which says a lot on it's own....
It's got the customisation of Forza, but perhaps not quite as deep, but in a more arcadey environment. But not as arcadey as Burnout. That's about all I can say.
Maybe you could rent it from somewhere first?
What racing games does Juiced match up with style-wise?
Just curious at the moment.
I thought you weren't going to give reasons?
Although it sounds more like you're crap at it, rather that it being a crap game :-)
And no, I don't need to give you reasons.
Some people may not like it as it isn't really one thing or the other, but that is what appeals to me. It's arcadey in it's handling and looks. Yet you can upgrade your car - turbo, brakes, tires, suspension etc can all be upgraded. You can also change the looks - spoilers skirts etc also have an effect on handling. As well as colour schemes etc.
It's a fun game to play - the races are generally entertaining, especially the Pink Slip races - see my original post in this thread.
It also plays really well online, even if the majority of players are yanks, most of them aren't too bad.
Plus, it's only 14.99 on Play at the moment, so you've not really got an excuse to not like it.
