Hey all my mate has been away for a week and now when hes on the internet he gets disconnected almost exacly every 5 minutes. He now can time when he gets disconnected. Hes ran ad aware, microsoft antispyware, antivirus and spyware doctor. Still the same problem.

neh its broadband, but when he rings up they say the usual "let me type prob into pc and i tell what wrong" routine, apparently its his cable that is malfunctioning, which it has never done before, at exact 5 minute intervals.

Is it dial up? I had that problem a few years back after I had an upgrade to my PC, never knew how to solve it, but a new PC did the trick. I suppose a format would work, but it was a long time since it happened to me, so maybe there is a solution. I suppose there is a chance his line gain was reduced, that could cause this type of problem. I suppose its best to ring up the ISP and get their opinion...
