Maybe it's a case of you don't know what you've got until it's gone. Whilst he was on air people may have taken him for granted and not cared so much but now they realise he was good at his job.

If you don't respect them alive then it's stupidly hipocritical to say you give a damn they're dead and build up some kind of faux-legacy.
