Sony goes for Blue Ray and MS finally opts for a possibly HD DVD enhancement to the 360.
Who's going to be the Betamax? Apparently it'll come down to which format the porn industry prefers (which'll be the cheapest).

Well... Considering such things don't even exist.
No.
Not really ones for picking winners, are they?
Aslong as blu-ray [love the nu-metal spelling] machines can play earlier DVDs then there shouldn't be too much of a problem. If they can't then they're dead in the water, PS3 or not.
Regardless if Blu-Ray is more expensive it's extra capacity isn't going to sway many people (Matrix Boxset 10 DVDs for 40 quid? Doesn't look like anyone's fussed about getting it all on one disc in the industry at the moment, infact you'd be more likely to shell out 20 quid for a double disc over single wouldn't you - value for money and all that?). If blu-ray's costs remain higher Microsoft and other HD DVD using companies could be laughing all the way to the bank.
And we've already seen Mini-Disc get sidelined by the cheaper standard of normal CD's.
I think blu-ray might take off faster simply because it's being used in the PS3. I guess a lot depends on how many PS3s are sold, but if it's near the 100 million mark like previous Sony consoles then it's hard to see how blu-ray can lose this one.
