Does anyone know what the program is called that removes backing sounds to a song so that you are left with only the person singing and no background instruments? I heard it was a devocalizer but i cant find anything under that name...anyone know :S

Goldwave might be able to do it.
The Creative MediaSource software has a few methods of doing this, but I'm not sure if you need a Creative sound card or not to use it.

Devocaliser will probably remove the person singing if the name is anything to go by!
I don't think you can do what you want though, but Cooledit might work?
