West Ham have been targeted for a takeover by the Roman Abramovich of Iran. Oil tycoon Kia Joorbachian (33) has contacted the hammers about a takeover,

He also owns Brazilian team Corinthians.

Upton Park is well up to Prem standards actually, and could probably be expanded on without needing to move it.

It may cost less initially, but with every investment comes the desire to get a considerable amount back in return. Think of just how much it would take to turn the current West Ham team into a side capable of holding a place within the top 10 next season - let alone any higher...

There's an awful lot of money to be spent there; transfer fees, wages and all!

Stadium expansion, eh? Let's take a look at Arsenal's situation, in brief. Following the growing success and leading French influence under Arséne Wenger, the Gunners are growing and growing, all the time. Highbury's become too small. They NEED to expand. So much of their fanbase is missing out, and has been for too long now. So much potential is there for a club the size of Arsenal FC, again, in the wake of Manchester United's fall from grace. English football still needs a new leader.

...But is it feesible to simply 'expand' on Highbury?

Perhaps not. Perhaps it would even be far more beneficial to move on to a new site entirely, such as Asburton Grove. To build something from scracth. Straight from new. To start a-fresh.

But how much more would that all cost?

Look at West Ham, at Upton Park - balanced finely between the Premier League and Coca Cola Championship. They haven't exactly got themselves an 'Old Trafford' to simply build and forever build on, now, have they.

You see, it all adds up in the long run - whoever you are!
And this is all without forsaking the club's financial security, looking into the past, given one or two major pear-shaped turns struggling to readjust to life at the very top again...

Why would any wealthy man go for West Ham, of all the twenty clubs in the Premiership?!

They've only just been promoted back. Where are they gonna go next season, if not straight back down again? (sorry, Hammers fans!)

I believe Roman Abramovich went for Chelsea because they have always been a great threat on paper, but have always needed that extra something to give them the end-of-season push to build consistency and take the team above 4th place come the end of the season.
With his millions, he could be the man to turn Chelsea into the new Champions of British Football. The new Man United, given their fallen grace.

I suppose he could've gone for Arsenal, yes. But, they were already a hit; never any further behind than second place. And as for both Liverpool and Newcastle, they were both still some way off at the time - rewards would not have been guarenteed; so much more work needed to be done (and still does, in BOTH cases!)

The fact is, West Ham are not the kind of team to get involved with ludicrous amounts of money - unless, of course, that involves the sale of their latest and brightest star to have risen from the acclaimed academy...
They've always relied on home-grown talent - with a single Italian patriot to lead the way. They've given our game some of it's greatest ever talents, and they forever will.

The only things money can do to a team like West Ham is to ruin them - as it so very nearly did in the season they went down.
