Bought some RAM yesterday from http://www.crucial.com/uk/

Got it this morning, came special delivery at no extra cost. A 512MB stick for my Dell 4500 cost £28, compared with £40+ P&P from the official Dell site. Heavily recommended.

That doesn\'t just apply to your machine, that applies to any machine. All RAM will run at the speed of the slowest stick and seeing as you assign a CAS Latency to all blocks in the BIOS, this will be applied to all sticks.

Of course you can fr*g around with this like I did with an old machine and managed to get a stick that was CAS 2.5 to run with another stick of CAS 2 at CAS 2 latency, potentially you can f**k up the boot into windows but I had around 12 spare blocks to play with so it was worth a bash :D

Well I bought some 2 sticks of 256mb of DDR400 RAM from Cruicial a few weeks ago and my Dimension 8300 is fussy over the RAM so if I didn't buy the right RAM that has identical speeds and CAS as my current 512mb (2x256) then my memory would run slower.

If you can send it back, have a look at www.overclockers.co.uk, cos if its CAS3, the other timings are probs cack really.

They have things like Geil Value CAS2.5 6-3-3 1GB Dual Channel Kits for about 65 quid, and thier OCUK stuff, which is probably comparable to this for about 55 quid for a gig.
