Had my current PC for just over 3 years now and over the years I've added;

40GB HDD
ATi X800 XT
512 Ram
DVD-RAM Drive

After doing my annual "Dust removal" this morning, I decided to have a look at my PSU output...

250Watt!!

SHould I really be concidering a more powerful one? I'm coming close to a new PC soon anyway, and I've never noticed any issues with the power with my current PC, but after talkin to some friends, It's been suggested that I should replce my current one...

Questions are...

Should I, even though everything run fine atm?
WHat do people reccomend for a new PSU?

I was concidering one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Ultra_X.html

I'd go for the "Enermax 485w" It's £70 on OCUK but it's very stable and it's ATX 2.0 (for modern and older boards) and it's kept my beefy system running like a dream. It's future proof too and it's very quiet which is always a bonus.

I dont really want anything that flashy, considering it'll be inside my case and I wont be able to see it... What do you recommend for someone on a budget, and doesnt care about aesthetics?

I'm on 350W at the Mo...

50GB Hard-drive
DVD-ROM
CD-RW
Radeon9200SE
XP 2600+ (only running at 1.9GHz)
Gig of RAM

Tho' when I try and up the clock speed to one of the presets, I get random power downs. I need a more powerful PSU dont I?

With an X800Xt, and Battlefield 2, I'd suggest you get a new one! 400W+ should be fine. Probably even 350.

If you're soon to upgrade, I wouldn't go for something big and expensive, just enough to protect your X800
