My friend and I had been great admirers of the Burnout series and we played comeptitively on each one until 3, where he got it and I didn't. I decided it was too expensive with me wanting PES4 and some other stuff. So instead I bought a second hand NFSU for £12.99. It turns out it's almost just as good, but slightly different.

I know there have been many threads and posts on the game, but I just wanted a bit of help with the drag racing. At first it seemed like the easiest thing in the world, but recently I've found it very, very hard, to beat the faster cars. I'm certain it's in the start, so here's the problem:

Am I right in thinking, that the way you start best in a drag race is by accelerating up until just before the red bars, then letting go, then hitting it full throttle on "go"?

Also, do you get more rewards if you complete a race or whatever on hard? Or is it just more cash?

Use your NOS after the first two gear shifts, then you maximise your speed and shifts

Hmmm. However, I feel that the game is so similar to Burnout, but slightly flops, because a race can be decided on a crash. In burnout, you just gain more burnout and can still compete. In NFSU your NOS runs out.

Yeah I do that fine.

Kinda do that. My engine blows if I use the NOS too soon though.

That's what I resorted to.

I only ask cos this morning I destroyed my drag racing record by losing to some quicker cars over and over again, so I just rammed them into vans.

Juiced is much better, it's a lot more difficult but it's a great challenge, plus you can bet on the races so even if you don't win you can still get some money. I've won just over a million quid by betting alone.

To complete a Drag race you need 'perfect' shifts look at the HUD display and it will show a perfect shift when you are in the green. Also use your NOS to boost your gear shifting. If all that fails just knock the other cars in oncoming traffic...ala Burnout 3
