The rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated...

Well from the looks of our web traffic reports it seems we are a pretty popular destination today. There is a lot of negative news in the press about gameplay riding the .com gravy train through a wall and coming to rest on the edge of a cliff. A bit like the end of the Italian Job. But with a train. And no gold.

However, gameplay supporters should not fear. This site, and the Leeds mail order operation, were sold in a management buyout a few weeks ago. The new company, Gameplay GB Ltd, is a privately held business and is totally independent of Gameplay PLC. Gameplay GB will reside here on gameplay.com for a few months but in the long term will move to www.gameplay.co.uk. This address already works so feel free to update your bookmarks now.

You can read about the deal on Gameplay PLCs corporate site here.

The new (well, old) team in charge intend to continue the high quality online shopping experience you have grown accustomed to from this site. In fact, Gameplay GB are hoping to make many great improvements to the service now they can focus on the core activity of selling games, without the 'nu media' distractions of the past few years.

We (Gameplay GB) would like to say a big thanks to all the loyal site visitors who have continued to use gameplay through this weird .com boom-bust period, and we're looking forward to a much more stable future"

You see? That's what happens when you have a flashy website, and have a television program, and loads of pointless offle on a site.

RIP gameplay. Just rip them, they're useless.

Well, they have a good presentation, good graphics, but the gameplay isn't all that really...

Gameplay is actually quite good, I think.

Okay, so there is no Gameaday or Filmaday, BUT the forums are full of life almost 24:7! About 12:30 the FOG dies.... Not with the Gameplay forums though!

I am not switching my allegence, and I thank SR for my 6 games... BUT I am just saying, as a company I think Gameplay are okay...

ShortChange is funny! But if more people tell them about the greatness of SR (give an example of customer help) then we'll see a review of SR in the program!

I remember seeing a Gameplay shop open in Reading, and about a month later it was closed. Good riddance!

Well Tony wanted to know about it, and SR are blatently the better company, yesterday I phoned 'ShortChange' from the BBC as a gesture and made a claim that Special Reserve is 'the best' service for buying games and PC equipment in the UK. They said they would take my claim into account!
