Top ten looked like this:
1. Tokyo Story
2. La Regle du Jeu
3. Lawrence of Arabia
4. The Godfather Trilogy
5. The Seven Samurai
6. Citizen Kane
7. Raging Bull
8. Vertigo
9. Some Like it Hot
10. 81/2
Somewhat shocking how The Shawshank Redemption not only didn't make the Top 10 or the Top 100, it didn't even feature at all in the Top 1000. Now there's got to be something wrong there - surely?
Also surprising not to see Apocalypse Now in the Top 100, despite being arguably of equal quality to the first two Godfather movies and, to be honest, simply better than 1990's pt. III. That's why I don't think it's such a good idea to group trilogies really.
Also - LOTR trilogy in at the 30th greatest film of all time? Hmm. King Kong at 79? I haven't seen it, but surely it's dated to the point of being unwatchable by now.
Anyway, I'll probably see if I can manage to find to watch all of the Top 100 by next year. It's a fairly interesting list despite a few confusing placements.
> Shawshank Redemption is overrated anyway.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion I suppose, but you still must die.
;^P
I never knew that Yoda died or that Obi-Wan was actually alive for most of a New Hope.
I keep planning to see them, but I haven't.
I agreed pretty much with all of the films in the top 20 (although after that there's a lot more films I've never seen), although i've never watched all of the Godfather or Star Wars trilogies, and they were the top 2, so that sort of half invalidates my opinion probably.
But Shawshank Redemption being anywhere outside of the top 5 makes any list WRONG.
The top 10 are all amazing films, but for SR (OMG LOLZOLZ) to not even be included is insane
