I thought I was eating some peach jelly filled cakes. I checked the packet and it said they were apple filled.

Instantly I started tasting apples. If this does nothing else, it proves that taste is purely a form of strange interpretation by the brain. And that chemicals in something might affect how we percieve taste, but it doesn't dictate it.

The brain is crazy.

I went to a party when I was about 7. I hate peanuts, in fact I'm allergic, but it wasn't until someone told me the sandwiches I was happily munching on were peanut butter that I started yakking up.

It does appear that what you see affects what you taste.

I once ordered a cheese burger with no onions so I assumed that was what I was getting. I started eating it unaware that the silly prat who made it had put onions on it. I didn't even taste them until I looked at it and saw a big nasty onion sticking out of the side. From then on all I could taste was the disgusting onions.

Yeah, like they say your eyes see only about 40% of what you actually think you see. The rest of it is just what the brain makes up, to complete the full picture. Spooky.

I think the brain is far more powerful than people realize, even scienticians don't know that much about it yet do they?

Apparently if you listen to the sound of someone making that "crunching" sound when they eat and apple, through some headphones and eat something with less consistancy (like custard), you can trick your brain into thinking it is eating something more crunchy then what it actually is.

Wierd huh?
