Got the game Friday, worked all day then Saturday morning it wouldn’t load making a load fast clicking noses. Opened it up cleaned the laser (I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, im 15 and have no electronic knowledge) then it worked for about an hour and done the same again. Tried the game on my brothers ps2 and it works fine. Just took it apart again for a closer inspection and I have a rough idea on what is wrong. Threes this little piece of plastic on like a long corkscrew with moves the laser and I think that the plastics slipping of it, so IV ordered a new piece for a ridicules £5, just hope it works now. The funny thing is my ps2 runs all my other games, is this because of the streaming methods of San Andreas?

Yours is doing what mine was doing. It will soon go altogether, just give this plastic thing ago, I’ve been reading that it’s a very common problem. If not get a new laser, isn’t as expensive as I thought they would be. About £20 for us with the older versions.

Well it hasn't stopped working for me, but I'm hearing a lot of some rather worrying noises from my PS2, such as clicking, and the "loading sound" repeating over and over. I have heard about the infamous disk read error for the PS2, and since my PS2 is one of the launch ones, I'm kinda worried that it may be ending it's life :(
