When you open My Computer in XP, it shows you all your drives in a neat categorised form - you'll know what I mean, not cascaded like a standard folder, but arranged with mini-headings - that's the best description I can give.

but anyway, mine is no longer all neatly arranged like that. It's lost the mini-headings and aligned all the drives like it would normal files/folders in a normal folder.

Does anyone know why it has done this? To my knowledge nothing has been deleted or changed, I just noticed it upon booting my computer at the weekend.

I know it's only a little thing, and it's not affecting my computer in way, performance-wise. But I'd like it to be all nice again!

Heh, weird :D

That confirms it then. I definitely did only do the Show In Groups one.

Cheers guys, I'll fix it when I get home

Ok, major oddness.

"My Computer" is grouped exactly the same as you normally have it, I open this thread, and so go to check my settings... except it's gone and done what yours has. :D

So yeah, two-step operation to get it back to normal. View > Arrange Icons by > Type and View > Arrange Icons by > Show in Groups.

That was really strange. :S

Crap, don't know :D

I'm at work at the moment so can't check. I think I may not have selected that, as I only recall selecting to show in groups.

I'll give it a shot when I get home. Cheers.

I think you got the idea, but unfortunately I tried that option.

doing that, it grouped them alphabetically downwards, which looked crap.

The standard layout used to show all my Optical and removable drives in one section, my C Drive above those and my A drive above that, with other things like Bluetooth, FTP and GMail drives at the bottom.

Sorry if I've miss-understood what you're asking, but it sounds like XP has just forgot your settings. My copy does this all the time, no idea why.

Simply go to My Computer, then View and Arrange Icons By. In the sub-menu, select Type and Show in Groups, which should get back your preferred listings (if I read your question correctly, of course).
