Firstly my system:

Asus A8N-SLI (not deluxe)
Athlon 64 3800+
Cosair Value 1024MB memory
gyga-byte 6600gt

Now, I wasn't sure what to expect when I built this system recently, but in 'modern' games I get an average of 50-70fps with detail set to medium, AND 50-70fps with detail set to very high. No real difference.

Does 50-70fps look right for modern games (and old ones like FarCry and Joint Operations) for the 6600GT? My last score in 3dmarks03 was 8400 by the way.

In Joint Operations I get around 50-80fps on just about any detail level.
Unreal Tour 2004 = 90-200fps on any detail level.

Yeh, that seems about right.

You have to remember that most games are designed to run at around 60 fps.

I wish it did 200-300fps in todays games, and maybe 150 under stress.

That's spectacularly pointless, given that your monitor probably doesn't update more than 85 times a second.

I honestly can't understand how someone could expect a card that costs about £140 (or less?) would offer such astoundingly amazing performance in modern games.
