I can't remember whether I posted on here about it, but about 2 weeks ago, I found my graphics card had stopped working - just plain and simple, no signal out of it at all.

Tried reseating it - nothing.

Tried a different graphics card in my PC - all worked.

Retried my 9800XT - nothing.

So I phoned Hercules and they agreed to an RMA (I didn't mention the arctic cooler). The only downside was it had to be shipped to France by courier at a cost of £45.

Anyway, I sent it off this Tuesday, it got to them on Thursday, and got an email from them yesterday saying a replacement would be sent out soon. I phoned them and he said it would be with me within a week at most, and that I can claim the shipping charge back :)

What I'm wondering is though, what card will I get back? 9800XT card were always a fairly low production model, and Hercules stopped making graphics cards at all a fair while ago now. There's a possibility that they'll send me a refurbished model. Alternatively, they could send me an equivalent model from another company, or, my favourite option, they could send me a card to the value of what I paid for it (£294) which would get me something quite nice :)

They wouldn't let me send it by recorded delivery or anything - they specified:

"- Send your package via a reputable courier such as UPS, FedEx, Purolator or Colissimo to ensure that it reaches us safely. Unfortunately we are not able to accept packages delivered in person or via regular post. We also regret that we cannot accept shipments sent COD (Cash On Delivery).
- Please note that Guillemot is only responsible for merchandise received in good condition at our warehouse. In order to protect your investment, we strongly recommend that you send your product via a courier service that offers a tracking number as well as insurance for your shipment."

I'll reclaim it though obviously.

£45? That's crazy man, how did you send it? That seems an awful lot even abroad! Do you claim the money back from Herc?

£45! I just sent it royal mail recorded delivery. I got a refurb card.
