Wow... this is like my first post in the PC forums.

Anywho... City of Heroes. I'm thinking of getting it because I'm a huge superhero, comic book geek and if I have to finally give into a PC MMORPG, then this should be it. The only thing holding me back is the knowledge that some of these online games cost a monthly fee.

Does this apply to City of Heroes and if so, how much is it a month?

Cheers.

Yes it costs just under £9 a month but you can save a bit if you take out a 3 or 6 month subscription.

Is the game actually good? Easy-ish to pick up? Many people online?

i clocked 300 hours on it and only got to lvl 37. (50 levels in total) Its quite fun, storylines are ok. The main thing that annoyed me was the monotony of the missions. Go here, arrest all vilians in warehouse, find clues. The PvP is shocking, so biased towards certain powers like invisibilty or flight, it adds nothing to the game.

All in all mediocre game, if you like comic books you might stick it out just for the storylines, the rest is quite pooey.

Graphics are nice.

edit - in comparison with WoW, there are hardly any people online.

Alternatively, get the single player game Freedom Force and it's sequel Freedom Force Vs. The 3rd Reich. Immensely enjoyable games that blend strategy and RPG style game-play, complete with over the top 'Batman' style voice overs and the ability to create your own superhero’s. There's multiplayer support too, it may not be as vast as a MMORPG, but it's certainly cheaper.
