On my mothers laptop, it appears the ethernet cable slot is "too big" or loose, meaning it flickers on and off, stopping any chance of accesing the internet or network gaming.

I've tried different cables, but it's definately the slot. Help!

Make sure the connectors on the port are clean..sometimes if there is dirt caught it will lose connection if it's not hitting the connector properly.

Does the plastic catch on the end of the network cable engage in the slot in the laptop?
