what's the best value for money ipod/mp3 player out there? i don't mind the quality of sound, i only want to store about 500 songs on it at the most (but no less than 100) , and i want to pay about £50-£100 for one. Another question is i want one that is easy to put songs on from my own collection of cd's, as i dont have a computer of my own, but would use my brothers computer to dump the cd's onto the mp3. im not interested about all the other stuff you get associated with mp3's i just see it as having a library for ALL of my tunes without ever having to take cd's or cd player out with me. If anyone can give me info/ideas about all of what iv asked i would be very grateful, thanks.

I got the newer iPod mini a couple of weeks ago. It's got about 477 songs on it at the mo.

Probably what I would go for if I didn't have an MP3 player. Either that or the mpMan that I sugested earlier.

It all depends on how many songs you want it to hold

If you want a lot (such as myself) then I'd go for the 20GB Creative Zen Touch available from SR for about £170

If this is too high and you want it for novelty value then go for one of the 128, 256 or 580 MEG mini players, again available from SR - ranging from about £40 - £80

For a mid-range player I'd go for the CnMemory Pro which has 1GB of memory and is available for about £70

Most of these are of a limited range and all available from SR, if you want a wider selection to suit your needs then I'd search yourself.

Basically, 20GB is about 10 000 songs and so 1GB is about 500. When searching bare in mind the battery life, cost, memory and functions

It is most probably lying.

It says 'Store up to 320 MP3 songs', it will all be down to length of song and quality.

That calculation you made is based on MP3's. By 320 songs, it means in WMA format.

If each song is 4mb then you can only hold roughly 250 songs. That other calculation is based on songs being about 3megs each, which means that they will be very short or low quality. Best to check your own selection and work it out for yourself...
