What i cant understand is why horror movies don't cause enough senseless mureders. I mean you sit in fornt of the t.v watching some sick pshyco slahing up foolish teens because of the day it is, or because of what happened in their past. And people(sick people-like me) don't go out killing people becasue they saw it on the tele. I mean where is all the cult, ritual murders. Not saying that i want more to start occuring i just want to know why they dont occur. I know its probably because 'most' people have conciounces, and because they know what is 'right' and 'wrong'. I mean I loved the lastest bank holiday special - messiah. And that got me wanting more, and thinking about how a great pattern for serial killiongs it was, but i havent seen anything about people repaeting it, why not?
That's the whole point. It's not real. Your mind tells you it's not real because it's not.. it takes a very disturbed person to actually copy what they see but many won't because they know it's not worth it and it's more fun to watch it in a film then do it in real life. I guess films stop the urge to do it themselves for some people as they see it in the film and don't need to go out and do it themselves.
Yeah I believe its something psycological in the peoples mind who want to go out and kill or hurt people after watching a movie or playing a game, so the critics who all believe games and horror movies influenced these killings they are wrong, its a really touchy subject so I wont dribble on too long cos I have heaps to say on this topic

The reason why people don't watch these movies and then go on killing sprees is simple. Telivision and Movies do not influence peoples actions in this way.
Sure, if you're a bit of a psycho, and you plan to go on a killing spree, you might prefer to do it just like Rambo, because you thought he was cool, but it doesn't mean that you wouldn't have done it anyway.
I watch violent films. I don't kidnapp cops and torture them, dancing around to 'Stuck in the Middle With You'. That would be sick, and it takes more than watching a few dodgy movies to make people sick.
Also, I watch films in which people do nice things. I don't go out and copy those either.
I am my own person. I will still be that same person if I watch the A Nightmare on Elm Street series back to back. I will still be the same person if I sit through a bunch of movies featuring Robin Williams in a 'serious' role.
