"Microsoft Word apostrophe problem"

A friend of mine just emailed me because they're having a problem printing out a word document - the apostrophes, which appear fine on screen, are not appearing when printed out.

Anyone know what the problem is, and how to fix it?

I suggested pasting into another word processing program (even Notepad or Wordpad) just to see if it's exclusive to Word whilst I go off and ask cleverer people for an answer...

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

you could print the paper out and fill in the apostrophes with a pencil ;)

Are they drawing them onto the screen using a pen? Because that might be the problem...

Does it not sound like it's a printer driver problem?

I'm just guessing.

I'd get them to try a different font, if that doesn't work then get them to try copying some of it into wordpad and trying it there.

If that still doesn't help then get them to e-mail it to you to try - may be a problem with the printer.
