...and going East = +1 hour.

Well if you go West to a time zone, and East to the same time zone, then you'd end up at the same place obviously... But, surely the same place can't be 24 hours apart from itself?

Help my poor little brain and tell me what happens :(

Oh, and that's wrong, it's the other way around, because those times/days are 25 hours apart.

But the essence is right.

And you don't go "back in time" as such.
You just gain a day (or lose a day depending on which way you go) like you do when you go abroad.
I learned all this by reading around the world in 80 days, ebcause they didn't put their watches forward every day they thought they lost, but they got around the world with a day to spare.

Ahaha, okay, there actually is.
Good times.

Pfffft. The world is a circle, so when it's 12pm here, it's 12am at the exact other side.

Because if it was 12pm there, the sun would be overhead both sides of the world at once.

YOU FOOL.

The exact date line isn't a straight longitude line down the Earth, it avoids every single area of land to avoid this mind bogglingness.

It's quite cool.

They're an entire day behind.

That's why Australia celebrates New Years at 1 pm our time, tehn, when you come home after your party at 9 am and flcik on teh TV you can see them celebrating New Years in Hawaii or whatever.

Emitime's right you hoves.

If you were to travel from China to the USA you would be travelling from Thursday into Wednesday.

The sun would be in the same plac (ish), but it's the day before.

That's because you're thinking about it in terms of being able to get to one of these time zones instantly. You need to factor in the time it would take you to travel there.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
