Upon trying to list a single day listing for my sister on ebay, I kept on getting an error message. I then found this in the ebay help:

'What are the seller requirements for a 1-day listing?'

"For a 1-day listing you must have a feedback score of 10, or if you have a PayPal account and accept PayPal as a payment method, a feedback score of 5."

I have a feedback of 8 and only use paypal.

You've dont it again ebay,

It's just a v.popular item so there's no point putting it onfor more than a day. I've just sold a few things so i should have enough feedback in the next couple of days.

Ps: Anyone notice how if you email ebay about a problem they quickly fixit then act like it was never there. Happened when they owed me a FVF and as soon as I emailed them it was suddenly issued and I got a 'we've checked your account and it shows it's already been paid'.

A 3 day listing can't hurt. And a couple more feedback points and you're OK.

My feedbacks all from different buyers/sellers. Lordfunk, what you said made something click. Maybe it's just the paypal 'verified' buyers and sellers that count. If this is so I've only got a rating of 2 (but that's paypal not ebay so I'mnot sure if thats the answer).

Multiple ones from the same person only count as one.

So if I buy six items from one guy, and he gives me 6 good feedbacks for prompt payment or whatever, then it'll only count as one towards my rating.
I think it's more 'how many Ebayers rate you' rather than 'how many times Ebayers have rated you'.

It helps prevent people from raising their ratings artificially, or slows them down atleast. :-)

The easy way round it would be just to make a longer listing time

There's probably a statement in their policy about it and only certain people can post 1 day auctions, for security reasons or something along those lines

In your case, probably a small error. Mail them and see if you can fix it. Does it actually show your feedback

e.g I have 11 in total but 9 written by my name
