Fast Food Nation is a thriller now?
It's about the hideous corporate abuse and misuse of labour laws/agricultural monopolies and godawful treatment of migrant workers by McDonalds.
How does one turn that into a fictionalised thriller??
> There's no central character, there's no plot.
> It's a non-fiction report...
Hey, that never stopped the movie industry making a film out of Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch. Give them enough time and we'll probably see "Orange: The Movie"
It could be good, Linklater is a genius. Slacker, Dazed and Confused, and SubUrbia are all excellent pieces of filmmaking. I've also got Tape on my shelf waiting to be watched and The Waking Life looks pretty interesting. Although these days he does more mainstream work like School of Rock and that thing with Keanu Reeves.
Fat Greedy politician "Quiet you crazy left wing lunatic. You didn't get excommunicated for nothing"
Ex-Journalist Politician Interpreter "Honestly look everyone"
Fat Cat Corporate Manager "Here's $40 be quiet!"
Ex-Journalist Politician "Oh no what do I do I must struggle with my conscience this $40 could save my dying child!"
Child dies of fast food poisoning
Ex Journalist Politician "Now I must tell the world!"
Fat Cat Corporate Manager "Ok kill him!"
Struggle ensues, ex journalist politician wrestles with conscience some more, finally goes global, everyne boycotts fastfood, game over

It's Richard Linklater.
And Supersize Me was a doc about a guy eating nothing but McDonalds for a month.
Fast Food Nation covers everything from franchising laws to potato magnates. There is no central one theme.
*shakes head*
"Good lord it must be some kind of conspiracy! Get the president on the phone!"
Then war is declared.
