Had it for a few weeks now, can't say I've played it that much (8 hours perhaps) but it's marvellous. My only gripe at the moment is there not actually being much to do. I mean fair enough you have story on all 4 difficulties, time attack on all four difficulties and survival on all four difficulties, but that doesn't honestly provide much of a challenge. I've never played a DOA game before but in my short time playing I've got to a level where I can finish it on Very Hard without too much hassle - still got to get the counters and stuff fine tuned however, get my ass handed to me on too many occasions due to mistiming things.
So far I've been playing through each mode as the purple haired girl and unlocked 10 costumes for her (is this the max?), the rest of the characters I've only completed up to Normal with (unlocked the boss character... what on earth is he all about anyway?). My question is, what else is there? Obviously theres the online mode and the versus mode (tag and normal) but I'm feeling a little hard done by. Fighting games have never offered much longevity unless playing in two player, I suppose this might be the problem, girlfriend refuses to play it and instead makes me play Doom 3 as she likes watching.
I've heard you have to have a DOA 3 save file to unlock one of the characters? I mean what the hell is going on with that, I don't expect to have to buy another game to reap all of the benefits of my purchase. Effectively it's stopping me unlocking 2 of the characters as I would need to complete this special guys training mode to unlock another. Sucks really.
Finally, DOA 1 is utter gash. I'm sure no one disagree's with me.
Anyway, even after all of this moaning, the actual game is sublime and the thing which is going to keep me coming back despite the lack of a challenge is attempting to master it. Contradicting myself here so I'll pass it over to you.
Oh yeah and the addition of the original DOA is utterly pointless, the different in the gameplay between that and the remake is crazy.
