My current Radeon 9200 plays Half Life 2 fine, but Doom 3 tends to chug a bit, and seeing as I just got Resurrection of Evil aswell, it's about time I upgraded. Looks good to me, and at a good price, but I want a card that'll run games competently for at least a year or two.

9700 non pro is the equivalent.

Roughly a 9600 pro 9700 pro I think. The only place you can get a 9700 pro from now is OCUK as they are about 3 years old I think!

Speaking of graphics cards.

What is the desktop equivalent of a mobility 9700 128mb?

I think it’s about 5% better then the 9800pro or something small like that. For the price that is quite a good card. It’s either that or a 9800pro. You can easily pick them up brand new for around £90. But at the end of the day it’s your decision.
