Here is a list of which i think r the best solo artists ever.I am mostly going over all the genres of music.

5)Marylin Manson
Marilyn Manson is one of the most challenging and important figures on the international rock scene - a fact which even his critics would not disagree on.What comes across most is his intelligence, especially compared to his more vociferous opponents, and also his missionary zeal not corrupt America but to make it sit up and look at the bigoted absurdity of itself. Manson can teach us a few important lessons to do both with censorship and raising children, and with Marilyn Manson an increasingly difficult phenomenon to dismiss out of hand.Unbelievably, I was left thinking that Manson was quite an intelligent man even though it seems to have been applied to strange things such as theories about Satan. All in all, you don't have to love this guy.

4)Eminem
Eminem, Marshall Mathers, Slim Shady - the first rap star of the 21st century arrived late but still made a mark, however his outspoken style, voiced through his alter ego, has won him many enemies.Refusing to conform to market trends or even moral trends, Marshall Mathers III says what he wants when he wants. Ever wondered why?

3)Will Smith
Since his early acting appearances, Will Smith was a star in the making. Gaining fame and fortune on TV with his phenomenally successful series Fresh Prince of Bell Air he has moved into music and film with smash hits such as Independence Day and Men in Black. Will Smith could be perceived as a very arrogant character, and some of his public appearances and the things he says sometimes justifies that. It is seemingly an unfair claim to make.

2)2pac
No one symbolised the violence at the heart of gangsta rap more than Tupac, and he ultimately fell victim to that violence, gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 13th 1996. The theories which a lot of tupac fans believe that the great man is still alive!
Shockingly explicit, Words Never Die gives a raw portrayal of Tupac's life, from his early years, living in homeless shelters, to an acting career in his teens, culminating in his meteoric rise to Hip-Hop legend.

1)Freddie Mercury (Queen)
As the front man of rock survivors Queen, Freddie Mercury carved out a niche for himself which would never be equalled, let alone bettered. Combining traditional, heavy rock posturing with his own sexual ambiguity, Mercury kept the fans guessing as he relished in the mantle of greatest showman on earth. His work with Queen was punctuated by several solo outings, providing Freddie with several hit singles including ‘Living On My Own’, ‘The Great Pretender’ and ‘Barcelona’. The albums ‘Mr Bad Guy’ and ‘Barcelona’ have both been criminally unavailable for years. It would be hard to think of any artist who released two albums as contrasting as `Mr Bad Guy` and `Barcelona`, the first disco influenced and the second an opera record. `Mr Bad Guy` is the better of the two although it is a bit repetitive and ultimately rather lightweight. `Barcelona` is something of an acquired taste. Where `Solo` scores is in the bonus disc which collects together some fantastic Freddie tracks not on either album, `Love Kills`, his superb cover of `The Great Pretender` and the near perfect `In My Defence`.It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of his work that, nearly ten years since his untimely demise, the music of Freddie Mercury continues to stand head and shoulders above the competition.

On their own Elvis was number 1, Buddy Holly number 2, Cliff Richard number 3, Whitney Houston number 4 and probably Frank Sinatra at number 5.
