As a side about to tumble into the bottom tier of the football league, as you can imagine there are quite a few hopeless players who should really have considered an alternative career at the club.
One of the strangest stories, though is that of Chris Kanu, brother of former Arsenal palyer Nwankwo. I was recently reminded that yes he does exist and that he is still playing for the club. He signed on at the start of last season amongst a blaze of publicity, including an on-the-pitch contract signing but played just a couple of games before bneing dropped. Whenever he got back into the side due to injuries, he always managed to have a disaster. His Posh career despite only being a handful of games old is littered with Red Cards, Own goals, conceeded penalties and general poor performances. He was so out of favour, that last summer his agent tried to set up a move to a Ukraineian club, which fell through at the last minute.
Anyway, a spate of injuries recently let him back into the side and he has been magnificent. Finally, nearly two years after he signed for the club, he finally looks like a player who once played for Ajax and Inter Milan. His contract is up in the summer though and is unlikely to be renewed. His status as one of the clubs leading earners can;'t justify the handful of games he has played and he is likely to be shown the door. The only club that have shown any interest is Weymouth...
Football is a funny game, but this one player will have a fantastic auto-biography one day...
