Got a letter from my Uni 7 days ago stating that I "promised" to pay the remainder of my tuition fees by a certain date, but hadn't, so they were issuing a "Final Warning!!!" before burly men in black padded jackets come and take my stuff. Yeah, I hadn't, so what it's a Uni they expect it from us pikey students (I have now). But "promise"? What are they, my new best friends? It's like I rang up and said "Oh I promise to pay you by this date, promise, honest, scout's honour!". No idiot does that - it's a Uni, not a mate. Speaking of which, I promise Snuggly that I'll pay him the £45 I owe him, and code that hit counter. Ha.

I "promised" the institution I'd pay them...don't make me laugh. Ha. Ha. Ha.

I believe that it's due to when you enrole with a university there is some writing that says that you will pay all fees if you quit the course early.

In june i got a letter saying that as i haddn't paid them after 3 letters they would withhold my grades if i didn't contact them in 7 days as the enrolement form was a type of agreement about paying fees on time.

I phoned them and explained that they haddn't sent me any letters, i had them check the address and they had my one form the year before, they had lost my enrolement, i asked what happened to the direct debit form i had set up when i enroled. they said it must have been attached to my other form.

To sum up:

The finance people at my uni are complete flids.

Heh, I figure by mentioning your promise, they're trying to create a context of 'you failing to pay them', rather than 'them hassling you for money'.

It all seems almost party-political in their transparant attempts at manipulation.
I wonder whether companies have always tried this, or if it's a side effect of the more blatant and obvious manipulation that goes on in politics and media.

I get the feeling that it's a new concept, purely because they're so bad at pulling it off.
'But you promised!' *University sulks*
