Turn out fot he books... Say hello to Adobe Dreamweaver!
> That's absolutely great!!

Why ???
As far as I can see, a few years down the road, a couple of decent applications will have been either lost or absorbed. Personally I prefer large companies like this to be in competition so that they keep coming up with better apps and are able to offer different technologies.
I use applications from both companies and like the fact they are different.
So I can't really say it's either "Great" or "They should have done it years ago"
1. This hasn't happened yet, and monopolies commissions means it may never.
2. Adobe's management isn't stupid. it's not going to can Dreamweaver—the #1 web design tool (in terms of sales) in the market. If anything, it's GoLive that's under threat from this sort of thing.
3. In all likelihood, *any* Macromedia product making a profit will either be kept on or integrated into existing products, so you won't "lose" anything.
For what it's worth, it would surprise me to see Adobe integrating aspects of the Macromedia interface into its product line if this merger goes ahead. Anyone who's used CS knows that some of the apps are becoming rather odd (GoLive, especially), and Macromedia's interface is often proving superior (at least on Windows).
Adobe should have done it years ago.

Freehand... yay! I hate freehand with a passion, it's non intuative, it's bulky and no where near the power of Illustrator CS. It was a prouduct boughtout by Macromedia years ago which never saw a decent over haul, i'll be pleased to see the back of it.
As for fireworks, gutted if they do. FW had evolved so much since v1 and surpasses anything Adobe has ever produced for web graphics. Always beleived it made ImageReady look like paint in comparison. The compression engine alone was worth th expense as well as it's tight integration with the rest of the MM suite.
Personally, I'd like to see FWKS integrated with PSCS.
It explains why macromedia didn't bother showing up for a tution course at my uni, too busy counting their money.
