I wont reveal the site, as it will be advertising, but I have found the following laptop:

14.1"TFT
1GHZ
256MB RAM
20GB HDD
DVDCD etc for £1300

But it only has 32MB video/graphics card, I think I need to upgrade, but will any graphics card work in a laptop?

And, Will the AMAZING SR 40GB HDD offer work in a laptop?

Plus, is that above really a good price?

I really need a laptop for gaming and GCSE coursework uses.

If anyone knows any better deals, E-mail me [email protected]

I have found a T*** laptop with:
1ghz
256MB
20GB
14.1"
DVD/CD/CD-RW
Intergrated AGP 64 graphics
all for £1600 inc.VAT

[Take away the CD-RW and its £1400]

Is this good, I definately want a laptop, but don't have much money.

I know T*** sometimes use dodgy components, but is it worth it, just for 2 years use?

Whats your problem then?

If its about the graphics card... then I would say... no...

There are some cardss you can upgrade... but on the whole, LapTop stuff is a little behind desktop stuff...

Just remeber a laptop of £1300 is really going to cost you at least £1500

I have already looked for the fors and againsts for laptops. And I do need one. I have a very small bedroom, and there would be no room for a desktop, plus the main PC is always in use. If I have the money to spend, I think its worth it, in my circumstances. Thanks for all your advice though, PS, I already have a new laptop secured for 2 years time, so thats OK

Sounds like a Dull laptop offer?

Bear in mind... when you get a laptop... you also need a whole load of extras... carry case, extra batterie, etc... these things are pretty much essential for portable use.. and generally add a few hundred quid to the overall price of the laptop...

Also... theres a lot of people here who complain about the price of PC's and the costs of upgrading the system...

If you buy a laptop, be prepared never to upgrade, and expect to be buying a new one every 2-3 years...

The PC is good because the keyboard seems alot easier.
It seems more user friendly and the monitor isn't in a fixed position and it's much bigger.

Well i am in year 11 of high school and just about to start my GCSE's, and i have never had the need to use a laptop for any of my coursework... during ya school years you are better of saving for soemthing else rather than splashing out so quickly on a laptop!

Laptops are good for what they do. If you are a Business man/women and you need to take it on the train while you travel to meetings e.t.c. Or you need to take your work home or whatever they are good and serve there purpose well. If its going to be used as a home computer and it never moves from the one spot then its pointless. Even if you wanted to move it around the house I would see little point in getting one. My friend borrowed one from Evesham.com as he works there. He used it to do his A-Level coursework, as he wanted to use a program the school didnt have. He had it for about 4 weeks. They are good as they look amazing, its kind of a show off piece of kit if you use it to take to school or whatever. I was tempted to buy one as now iam going to Uni and living at home it would have been useful to take to Uni and bring my work back with me.

PC's are so much better for at home, they are cheaper and a better spec than a Laptop. I dont want to put you off Darkness_2k but if you dont really need it, buy a better spec PC for the same money. I also think that PC's are alot easier to upgrade than a Laptop, I may be wrong about this.
