Personally I'm a strong believer of an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but then again jail doesn't seem to be fitting for some crimes, so maybe the act of criminality can be reversed back upon them. That's pretty much what happens in obscure countries like Yemen.
On the other hand, the war on Iraq was effectively a big boys eye for an eye. You f**k with us and we'll f**k with you. And look where that got us.
With the political air and all...

Life is hard.
They caught the theif and he's at court tommorrow (he robbed 5 other houses).
The police say he'll get community service.
I say they should maek him clean the houses of those he robbed and cut their grass, trim their hedges etc.
But that would never happen, so I have to do it.
:-(
I cannot STAND people who go 'rar rar, castrate/kill/hang/etc them!!' because they're passing an ignorant judgement on something that has sod all to do with them. Personally, from an objective point of view, I think an eye for an eye just creates resentment and 'blindness' in small cases (i.e a fight, nothing too serious), and in more extreme cases is just as bad as whatever started the issue off. I'd LOVE to put some people up against somebody and tell them to enact all their patheticly flippant promises....but at the same time, I cannot honestly say that if I was greatly hurt, I wouldn't think an eye for an eye was a bad idea - But I've never had to face that and so far I've managed to turn the other cheek, because fighting back/taking retriubution would have been pointless/as bad as the other/etc.
