The reason i found that Halo 2 sets it as vertical is becuase it has clever thinking, my TV is a 32" widescreen so the xbox is set up as widescreen so they think that that set upp is better, to sort this out simply change the main xbox options on the hard drive to normal- take verything out the drive and the menus come up. hope this helps
