Wow, what an excellent little book. If you're anything like me, the only text you'll have read this year are TV listings (although I still maintain that I don't watch TV), and cooking instructions on tinned food. Screenburn is perfect for little dips on the way to work, or 10 minutes waiting for one of his fodder to appear on TV. His writing style is so effortlessly descriptive, you can't help imagining the bizarre scenarios he must see in his mind, and it's too damn funny. Best bit so far is the Haiku TV Listings. I actually displayed emotion on a train journey and laughed. I've never done that.

It does make you feel like a bit of a Nathan though, lapping up your new idol's offerings like he's the most original genius ever. I'm sure the whole Barley/TV Go Home thing was a sly dig at his own readers, me included (I'm a devotee now). It does get a bit tiresome, which is why I find myself reading in short bursts, rather than trying to take in as much as possible. It's great fun though, and makes it OK to admit that you know who these people are he's writing about.

*Shrug* Been a fan of him since his work in "Oink" comic (remember that?) Via SuperKaylo and Tvgohome.

He's been around for a while, but he's always been a very, very funny bloke.

I read constantly, bur Screenburn has been the most enjoyable book I've read this year. I don't watch TV, but I can imagine exactly the type of situations and the hatred towards the programmes he's reviewing.
