Wouldn't locking a religious fanatic up for 17 years make a bit more...oh I don't know...angrier?

Obviously he has to be punished for his crimes, but it's a bit of a grey area to me how you can overcome his fanaticism.

I'm going to vote for the other one, because he's just had a kid and probably needs the money for nappys.

Now *that* is what you call timing it right.

Astonishingly, Michael Howard has tried to use this as part of his "darkies will kill you if you don't vote for us" strategy.

I await Blair's "you're lying; darkies will kill more of you if you vote Tory. Vote for us to minimise the evildarkie menace" response will no real interest.

He was also a failed asylum seeker though - asylum being the one issue where the tories have a lead on labour.

They all seem to have an angle to try to spin something favourable from it.
Labour can keep people scared,
the tories can whine about asylum (and immigration, because it's all foreigners coming in to steal your mum)
and the lib dems are going with the 'tax rises and more police' thing. Not sure the honesty thing will work out for them though, that crazy drunkard.

Personally, I think most of the motivation for the publicity from these stories comes from the media's agenda to keep people scared and paying attention (buying).

RICINDEATHKILLBOMB!!!!!!!!

Just in time for next months elections.
"Yes Peasants, you remember how darkies wanted to kill you with cocabean bombs before Iraq 2. And ok, sure we lied about there being any weapons of any kind whatsoever or any semblance of a threat to our nation.
But look at this raghead! Don't worry about him killing a policeman, that's by-the-by. No, it's the MURDERKILLPLOT he was talking about. That's why you must fear him. Now wasn't Blair correct in leading your country into a false war? Vote Labour you peon scum"

Sure.

That article is missing stuff, they had already arrested him and sat him down in the flat but they didn't handcuff them, the guy then jumpped up grabbed a knife and stabbed the cop.

I got that information from a news report yesterday on BBC.

This was the polices fault in the first place.

Oh I dunno about stirring tensions; Muslims worship the same God as Christians, so...

The 17 year sentence would be fine if he was regularly visited by an Imam who's willing to debate his rather insane interpretation of the Koran. They're doing that in (I think) Yemen, and it's working wonders for cutting off recruits for the Wahhabi Muslims.

I know the answer to that one: none, followed by a swift fist to the eyes.

Something else a bit troubling about the article, is that they reported the widow of the murdered Policeman will be praying for his killer. Nice way to stir religious tensions for no reason, dumbasses. Are they trying to say the Christian God is better because she was able to forgive him? Seemed a bit unnecessary to me.
