The PS2 has had very little in the way of watersports, infact, I don't think there are any.

Well this is all set to change as Infogrames has teamed up with Rainbow Studios (the developers of ATV Offroad Fury) to create a game called Splashdown, and is a 3D watersport racing game. The game will feature Sea-Doo (ever heard of these) brand personal watercraft models and equipment; 18 racing courses will be including in the game: Hawaii; Venice, Italy; Nice, France; and Lake Havasu, Arizona; and there will also be eight characters in the game. Game modes will include career, countdown and free ride, with three difficulty levels in each, as well as a two player mode.

Infogrames are promising realtime water effects, called the "hydrodynamic physics" system by Rainbow studios, which will be including dynamic wakes, rolling waves and turbulence that will affect how the watercraft and player responds to each turn, jump and trick, which should make for a realistic game. Players will be able to perform over-the-top acrobatic stunts as in most watersports games, along with wipeouts and wrecks.

Sounds quite good.

Arent the developers of Tony Hawks meant to be creating a Pro Surfer game?? I think I read somewhere they were and the water effects are going to be some of the most realistic ever seen in a video game!!

Snow doesn't count. I am talking about liquid form of water.
I had forgotten about Surfing H3O, but it isn't really a game worth remembering.

What about SSX, and Winter X games and stuff? Surfing H30? Aqua Aqua?

Even the MGS2 demo was on the brink of being a water sport. Especially if you spend the whole time ditching guards over the side.
