I have never watched an Ice Hockey match but on www.big-boys.com there is a video of two hockey players fighting - and the ref just stands there and watches!

I dont think there are ever "rules" to a fist fight, so no they can do what they like, but usually it doesnt look like it hurts too much, except for the odd riot type brawl which can be nasty.

Why don't they just kick each other? It'd cause more damage seeing as they're wearing blades. Do they have to keep their gloves on when fighting?

Sounds crap. Give me Bowyer vs Dyer over that stuff anyday.
They usually just let them go for 30 seconds to a minute slugging the crap out of each other then break it up and send them to the penalty box.
Players get told to fight by the league as it gets many people watching it (due to previous interest waning) and as such, gives them more money. It's real fighting but they are encouraged to do so, and it happens very often.
